Virginia Louise Boyd

Virginia Louise Boyd, 86, of Charles Town, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Golden Living Center- Rose Hill, Berryville, Va. Born July 17, 1924, at Federal Hill Farm in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Charles C. Boyd and Bertie Mae (Wagaman) Boyd.
Ms. Boyd graduated from Charles Town High School, class of 1945, and retired after 38 years with the former J.J. Newberry Co., Charles Town. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town. She was also a member of the Charles Town Woman's Club and Charles Town Garden Club. At the time of her death she was survived by five sisters, Martha Bray, of Pueblo, Colo., Barbara McMahn, of Suffolk, Va., Rose Mary Jones, of Bolivar, Shirley Rent, of Baltimore, Md., Dorothy Boyd, of Burlington, N.C.; and a brother, William Neil Boyd, and wife, Helen L., of Ranson. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Boyd and Caroline Reynolds, and one brother, Charles Nelson Boyd. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, with the Reverend Richard Kroll officiating. Hymn was "Amazing Grace." Internment was in the Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town. Pallbearers were Glenn Viands, Mike Pittinger, Roger Ramey, Christopher Lee Boyd, Donald Mickey and Linn Sheetz. Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church, 110 W.
