Born July 16, 1909, in Grant County, she was the daughter of the late George W. Stump and the late Mary (Judy) Stump.
Mrs. Alt retired as a cafeteria worker with Mineral County and Jefferson County school systems.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town, WV.
Mrs. Alt was a member of VFW Memorial Post 3522 Auxiliary, Charles Town, WV, and the AARP.
She is survived by four daughters, Norma A. Tuthill and husband Dallas of Sun City Center, Fla., Jean A. Henning of Ocean Pines, MD, Judy A. Thomas and husband Richard of Catonsville, MD, and Kathleen A. Mills and husband Richard of Kearneysville, WV; two grandchildren, John K. Geoghegan and Paula J. Henning; two sisters, Vernice Stansbury of Baltimore, MD and Rhoda Riggleman of Burlington, WV; and three brothers, Rudolph Stump of Baltimore, MD, Ralph Stump of Mt. Clare and Jesse Stump of Baltimore, MD.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Alt, who died June 29, 1985; two sisters, Leola Konitzer and Nida Judy; four brothers, Lavurl Stump, Oliver Stump, Clement Stump and Arlie Stump.
Funeral services were held at noon on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, WV with the Reverend Constantine L. Havir officiating. Pianist Eric Bowan, played "How Great Thou Art," "Nearer, My God To Thee," "Morning Has Broken," "Amazing Grace," "Going Home," and "Climb Every Mountain". Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, WV. Pallbearers were Dallas Tuthill, Richard Thomas, Richard Mills, Don Geoghegan, Michael Shewbury, Gregory Mills and Alvin Mills. Honorary pallbearers were Rudolph Stump, Ralph Stump and Jesse Stump.
Friends were received from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, February 9, 2009, at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home.
