Reverend Marcus Avery Earp, III

January 27, 1928 - July 11, 2011

 Reverend Marcus Avery Earp III, 83, of Hedgesville went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 11, 2011 at his residence.

Born January 27, 1928 in Huntington, WV he was the son of the late Marcus A. Earp, II and Addie L. McGinnis Earp.

He was a retired minister with the United Methodist Church. He had served with the U.S. Naval Reserve and Civil Air Patrol.

He graduated from Marshall University and earned his Master of Divinity from Wesley Seminary. He was a member of Maryland Bible Society.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Joyce Smith Earp; one son, Marcus Avery Earp IV of Herndon, VA; one daughter, Kathryn Denise Spradling and husband, Richard of Chambersburg, PA; two grandchildren; Jaime Michelle Fraley-Wagner and husband, Jacob, and Jonathan Marcus Earp; one great-grandchild, Avery Matthew Wagner; and one brother, Carroll M. Earp and wife, Clyda of Lavalette, WV, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 8:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Reverend. Dr. George Earl officiating.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral chapel in Inwood.
