Lucy C. Coulter

Lucy C. Coulter, 84, of Tuscawilla Hills, Charles Town, died Saturday, February 3, 2007, at her residence under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. She was born on May 5, 1922, in Jefferson County to the late John William “Guy” and Nana Lee (Bell) Cook.

At the time of her death she was survived by three daughters, Patsy Noland and husband Donald Neal, of Charles Town, Linda Dent and friend Donald, of Keyser, and Barbara Bechtold, and husband Henry, of Chulota, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, John H. “Jack” Cook, of Ranson.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles Henry Coulter, who died in 1983; two sisters, Naomi Benner and Nana Belle LeJune; and four brothers, Vickers, Ellis, Elmer and Miller Cook.

Mrs. Coulter retired in 1985 after 25 years of service with the Potomac Edison Company. In 2004, she retired from the Bon-Ton store of Martinsburg where she worked until the age of 82.

She was a member of St. James Church of the Brethren of St. James, Md., and she attended Asbury United Methodist Church of Charles Town.

Mrs. Coulter was a graduate of Charles Town High School, class of 1940.

She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge #128.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at the Charles Town Asbury United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Richard Kroll officiating. Hymns: "Christ The Lord Is Risen Today", "When We All Get To Heaven", The Old Rugged Cross", and "Abide With Me".  A granddaughter and grandson sang "Amazing Grace".  Interment was held at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Brownesville, Md.  Pallbearers were Kevin Dent, Lee Dent, Travis Dent, Jack Rohrbaugh. Andy Noland, Don Noland, Chris Bechtold and Del Grimes.  Arrangement were made by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home.
