Kathryn L. Trussell
Kathryn L. Trussell, 96, of Charles Town, died Friday, February 22, 2008, at
Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson.
Born on March 2, 1911, in Lone Oak Farm, Jefferson County, she was the
daughter of the late Eben Payne and Mary Ellen (Ramey) Trussell.
Miss Trussell retired as Jefferson County assessor in 1977 with more than 30
years of service.
She was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was a
member of the Women’s Circle of the church and was a graduate of Charles
Town High School, class of 1930.
She was a member of the Jefferson County chapter of DAR, member Charles Town
Chapter 128 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a life-long active Democrat,
and member of Charles Town Women’s Club and Jefferson Memorial Hospital
Auxiliary.
She is survived by one sister, Marie Trussell of Charles Town; one niece,
Paige Chapman and husband Bill; two nephews, Calvin Shoemaker and wife Diane
and William E. Trussell, Jr. and wife Doris; one great-niece, Lindsey Frye;
three great-nephews, Brady Chapman, Jeffrey Trussell and Bradley Trussell
and eight great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr.
William E. Trussell and Ray Trussell; two sisters, Evelyn Shoemaker and
Jessica Brokaw; and one nephew, Michael R. Trussell
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at Asbury
United Methodist Church, 110 W. North St., Charles Town, with the Reverend
Richard Kroll officiating. Interment will be at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles
Town.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday February 25, 2008, at the
Melvin T. Strider Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice in the
name of Kathryn Trussell.
