Katherine Watson Moler, 98, of Charles Town, died Sunday, May 25,
2008, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson.
She was the wife of Dr. James M. Moler who died on Aug. 4, 2005, Mr. and
Mrs. Moler were married for 70 years.
Born March 23, 1910, in Berkeley County, she was the daughter of late
Wade W. Watson and Ella (Trussell) Watson.
Mrs. Moler retired as a School Teacher in Berkeley and Jefferson
Counties after 40 years.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she taught
Sunday School in the children’s division for 25 years. She was a member
of the Friendly Sunday School Class.
She was on numerous committees, a member of United Methodist Women, a
graduate of Martinsburg High School, class of 1928 and a graduate of
Shepherd College.
She was a member of the Charles Town Women’s Club, Charles Town Garden
Club, Retired Teachers Association, Shepherd College Alumni, and the
Martinsburg High School Alumni.
At the time of her death she was survived by four nieces, Jean Watson, of Falling Waters, Joy Lamb
and husband Lester of Lynchburg, Va., Carol Gecon and husband Bruce,
Pittsburgh and Kathy Watson, Lafayette Hill, Pa.; two brothers, Leighton
Watson & wife Nancy, of Morgantown and Rich “John” Watson, of Lafayette
Hill, Pa.; after the death of her husband, she was in the loving care in
her home by her caregivers: Kathleen Berry, Doris Franklin and Margaret
Plata.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one
sister, Elizabeth Christensen; and two brothers, Gilmore T. Watson, and
Herbert W. Watson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Asbury
United Methodist Church in Charles Town, WV with the Reverend Richard
Knoll officiating. Hymns: "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", and "Be
Still, My Soul". Organist Jason Largent played three musical
selections. Interment was in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town,
WV. Pallbearers: Dave Hamill, John Gordon, Bob Watson, Jim Davis,
Kaye Bush and Linn Sheetz.
Friends were received at Asbury United Methodist Church on Wednesday,
May 28, 2008
from 1 to 2 p.m.
Arrangements were made by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles
Town.
