She was born June 11, 1913 in Clarke County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Carrol R. Jones and Lettie Esther Clark Jones.
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church for many years.
She was a member of Molers CEOS, The AARP, Women of the Moose Lodge No. 1028 in Charles Town, WV, past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Brunswick, MD. She was also V.I.P. Mama of the Panhandler’s Square Dance Club in Martinsburg, WV and V.I.P. Mama of the Mountaineer Twirlers Square Dance Group in Charles Town, WV.
At the time of her death she was survived by two daughters, Esther Y. Geary of Charles Town, WV; and Dorothy E. Barlett and husband, William of Sevierville, TN; one son, William “Buck” Geary and wife, Kathleen Larkin Geary of Davis, WV; one grandson, Scott Geary, one granddaughter, Aryce Severson, three great grandsons, two great- granddaughters, one great-great granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Norman “Bud” Geary in 1974, one daughter, Norma Jean Geary in 2000 and one grandson, Todd A. Geary in 2009.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, US 340 at Halltown Road, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, WV with the Rev. Richard Kroll officiating. Pall bearers were Roger Dailey; Jerry B. Mauck; Zack Fleming; James D. Smith; Thomas Wright; E. Harwood Kidwiler. Interment was in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, WV.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening July 30, 2009 from 7-9 pm.
