George H. Ward

George H. Ward, 64, of Charles Town, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.

Born Dec. 6, 1945, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of William F. Ward Sr. and Anne (McGowan) Ward.

Mr. Ward retired after 25 years with the federal government, H.E.W. Procurement. He attended Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town.

George was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 948, Charles Town; VFW Memorial Post 3522, Charles Town; the Jackson-Perks American Legion Post 71, Charles Town; and the Brunswick Eagles.

At the time of his death he was survived by his wife of 38 years, Cynthia W. (Worley) Ward, at home; one son, Gary T. Ward, at home; two sisters, Diane Johnson and husband, James, of Florida, and Della Estep and husband, David, of Hedgesville; three living brothers, John Ward Sr. and wife, Linda, of Romney, Bernard Ward, of Berryville, Va., and James Ward, of Stephens City, Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, William F. Ward Jr.

Services were held at noon Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 10755 Scaggsville Road, Laurel, MD 20723, with the Rev. Richard Kroll officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Worley, Tracey Worley, Michael Ward and Melissa Ward.
