Evelyn Kelly Watson, 90, of Ranson, went to be with the Lord on
Friday, May 23, 2008, at home with her loving family by her side and
under the care of hospice.
Born May 8, 1918, in Terra Alta, she was the daughter of the late Robert
Ray and Mary Cuppet Kelly.
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.
She earned her B.A. from Fairmont State College and a master’s degree
from West Virginia University. She taught school at Tunnelton High
School, Tunnelton, and Southern High School, Oakland, Md., for 40 years.
She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi in college, Delta Kappa Gamma
Teacher’s Society, secretary of Jefferson County Retired School
Employees and former 4-H leader.
At the time of her death, she was survived by one son, Robert William Watson Sr. and
daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sue, of Ranson; one brother, Dr. Warren G.
Kelly, of Arthurdale; grandchildren, Kelly Sue DeRonda and husband Tom,
Robert W. Watson Jr., Amy E. Dillow and husband Timothy and Erin E.
Watson; great-grandchildren, Bradley W. Watson, Lindsay Dillow, Brittany
Watson, Bethany Dillow and Madeline Dillow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
William Watson Jr.; brother, Robert W. Kelly; and sister, Mary Elizabeth
(Mrs. Summers) McCrum.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2008, at Asbury
United Methodist Church, Charles Town, with the Rev. Richard A. Kroll
officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mt Zion Cemetery,
Fellowsville.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday
at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home.

Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403 and the Jefferson County Relay for
