Born in Parkersburg, she was one of 12 children.
She retired in early 2000 from a career as a professional beautician working in Washington, D.C., Virginia and West Virginia, with the last company being the Hair Cuttery.
At the time of her death she was survived by two children; one sister; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Howell; five brothers; and six sisters.
Funeral services were held at noon Friday, July 23, 2010, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town, with the Reverend Richard Kroll officiating. Interment was at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, WV.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 110 W. North St., Charles Town, WV 25414.
