Dorothy G. "Dottie" Wilson

April 1, 1924 - April 9, 2010

 Dorothy G. "Dottie" Wilson, 86, of Charles Town, WV, died on Friday, April 9, 2010, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson. Born on April 1, 1924, in Atlanta, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Clifford Paul Gunn, Sr. and Reubena "Beckie" (Magee) Gunn.

She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town.

Mrs. Wilson retired in 1984 after 30 years with the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, where she had been a secretary-accountant in the Dietetics Service. Prior to this she was employed at Ft. McPherson in Atlanta.

She was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jackson-Perks American Legion Post 71, Charles Town; member and past president of the Betsy Ross Extension Homemakers Club where she served as tour coordinator and tour guide for the group. She also was a member of the Jefferson County Chapter of the AARP and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Jefferson County Chapter; and member of the Independent Fire Company Auxiliary of Charles Town.

At the time of her death she was survived by one son, Richard David "Dickie" Wilson of Charles Town; one daughter, Carol Margurite "Peggy" Starliper and husband Cliff of Kearneysville; four grandchildren, Nino Jay Wilson, David D. Wilson, Stacy Mobley Mattei and Kristy Mobley Irving; eleven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Philip Frederick Gunn of Columbia, S.C.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Mike" Wilson, who died May 21, 1994; and one brother, Clifford P. Gunn, Jr.

Memorial graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town. with the Rev. Dr. Henry Christie officiating. There was no visitation.
