She was born Feb. 4, 1925, in the old Charles Town Hospital, and was the daughter of the late Marvin E. Seal and Anna May Wolfersberger Seal.
She was a long-standing member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town.
She was a 1943 graduate of Charles Town High School and was chairman of the telephone committee for the past 65 years, having a perfect record of attendance to each of the annual class reunions.
Doris was a 1946 graduate from the Old City Hospital School of Nursing and proudly served as a nurse for 42 years. Through her decorated career, she served as former president of the District VI West Virginia Nurses Association, where she held many leadership positions. She had the honor of portraying Florence Nightingale twice in association with the Old City Hospital and King's Daughters Hospital Alumni Associations.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 69, Martinsburg; American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 71, Charles Town; Women of the Moose Chapter 738, Martinsburg; and chairman of the telephone committee of the Charles Town Lions Club, where her husband is a lifetime member.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 1/2 years, Charles Wesley Williams, at home; daughter, Charlene E. Williams and adopted daughter, Carol Riggs, both of Ft. Worth, Texas; one brother, Bobby D. Seal; and two sisters, Betty Day and Lois Ballard.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Lee Miller and Virginia Prewett; and one brother, Dale Seal.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, U.S. 340 at Halltown Road, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, with the Rev. Douglas Fraim officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
