Donald L. “Don” Cline

 

Donald L. "Don" Cline, 75, of Charles Town, WV, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.

 

Born January 29, 1930, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Lawrence G. Cline and Genevieve Metcalf McAllister.

 

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris D. Marshall Cline, of Charles Town.

 

He retired in 1988 after 41 years as a Service Engineer Technician with the West Virginia Department of High­ways.

 

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he had been Secretary of the Builders Bible Class, Treasurer of the Trustees and Build on the Blessings. He was former chairman of the Finance Committee, chairman of the Church Buildings and Grounds.

 

He was a graduate of Keyser High School where he lettered in four sports.

 

He was a member of the Board of Directors of Jefferson County American Red Cross; and a member of the Jefferson Memorial Park Board where he helped design the first tennis court.

 

He was recognized as a Dis­tinguished West Virginian in 1988 by former Governor Arch A. Moore.

 

At the time of his death in addition to his wife; he was survived by his step-father, Joe McAllister (Joe died on August 5, 2006), Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Teresa C. Feagans, Charles Town; three sons Jim Cline and Steve Cline, both of Charles Town, and Wayne Cline, Kearneysville; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Jean Cline, Augusta; and one nephew.

 

Services were held on Friday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town. Rev. Richard Kroll officiated and burial was in Edge Hill Cemetery.
