William G. Anders

William G. “Bill” Anders, 78, of Charles Town, died Monday, April 9, 2007, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.

Born Dec. 12, 1928, in Jefferson County, he was the son of Albert W. Anders and Helen (Anderson) Anders.

Mr. Anders retired in 1990, after 43 years with the Powhattan Brass Works, Ranson.

He was a devoted member of Asbury
United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Builders Class, spent more than 40 years in the church choir, chairman of the building and grounds committee, treasurer of the church and trustee of the church.

He was a graduate of
Charles Town High School, class of 1948.

Bill was also a former member of the Jefferson County Jaycees.

At the time of his death he was survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen E. (Robinson) Anders, at home; one daughter, Trudy Roth and husband Jeff, of Charles Town; two sons, Clayton Anders and wife Dana, of Shenandoah Junction, and Duane Anders and wife Cathy, of Dayton, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Pam Nesbitt Anders, of Olanta, S.C.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clayton W. and Nora D. Robinson; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces; and four nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William Brent Anders, who died March 26, 2007; two sisters, Mildred “Red” Polen and Adelaide Magaha; and one nephew.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2007, at Asbury
United Methodist Church, Charles Town, West Virginia, with the Rev. Richard Kroll officiating.
 Hymns: "It Is Well My Soul," "My Jesus, I Love Thee," "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "I'll Fly Away." Anthem: "The. Majesty and Glory of Your Name," was sung by the Combined Choirs.  Reflections were by the Rev. Duane Anders, Donald Mickey, Clayton Anders.  Interment was held at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

Friends were received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home.
