Anise L. Kelly
Anise Lloyd Kelly, 99, of Charles Town, WV, died
Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Mayfair House in Berryville, Va. Before residing at
the Mayfair House, Anise lived in Charles Town, WV.
Anise was born March 1, 1907, in Clarke County, Va., she was one of 12 children of John Letcher
Lloyd and Mary Frances (Lloyd) Lloyd. Anise would have been 100 years old
on March 1, 2007. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S.
Kelly, who died June 29, 1962 and her six sisters and five brothers. Anise was the last of her immediate family
to pass away. At the time of her death, she was survived by several
nieces and nephews.
Anise was a homemaker and very active in her church and community.
She was a 68-year member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and
a 68-year member of the Sunday school class; charter member of the Church
Woman’s Society; served 27 years on the Church Counting Board; and served as
secretary of the Property’s Committee.
She was a 35-year member of the American Red Cross; a member of the Jefferson
County AARP Chapter No. 799; and a member of the Jefferson County
Democratic Association.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles
Town, West Virginia, with the Reverend Richard Kroll officiating. The
congregational hymn was "O God, Our Help In Ages Past". Soloist, Gary
Whittington sang "How Great Thou Art. Interment was at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.
Pallbearers were Tom Stocks, Roger Ramey, Roger Dailey, Dick Carper, Kaye Bush
and Donald Mickey. Edward Pine was an honorary pallbearer. Friends were received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church
prior to the service . Funeral arrangements
were made by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town.
